The foundations of MHPSS Course provides a comprehensive understanding of MHPSS and how it plays a critical role in humanitarian and development contexts. It is aimed at anyone working on programs for and with children and their families in humanitarian and development contexts.
Throughout the three course modules, you will learn key MHPSS concepts and terminology, and the importance of integrating MHPSS services across sectors.
You will also learn to recognize and address stress and burnout associated with working under stressful conditions.
Module 1:
Lays the foundation by introducing key MHPSS principles and examining how stress impacts well-being for children and their caregivers.
Module 2:
Dives into mental health as a human right, the MHPSS continuum of care, and how to design inclusive interventions for the diverse children and families we serve.
Module 3:
Equips you with practical tools like psychological first aid, while emphasizing self-care and stress management essentials for thriving in challenging environments.
The course is free to access online, it takes just a couple of hours to complete and it available in English, Ukrainian and Arabic through Kaya, HLA’s learning platform. It was commissioned by Save the Children International’s MHPSS technical working group. The development of the course was led by the MHPSS Collaborative and the Humanitarian Leadership Academy, with technical reviews provided by MHPSS experts from Save the Children International and Save the Children Denmark.
