Collaborative Conversations #1: Responding to Lebanon’s mental health crisis with Dr Rabih El Chammay

Introducing Collaborative Conversations - a series of discussions bringing together researchers, practitioners and advocates in the field of MHPSS to better understand some of the challenges we face and how to tackle them collaboratively.

Lebanon is facing a humanitarian crisis. Almost one million people have been displaced and over 3,500 lives have been lost – including 226 healthcare workers. As it stands, the need for mental health and psychosocial support services far exceeds the available resources.

In December, the Collaborative’s Advocacy and Communications Advisor Louise Juul Hansen sat down with Dr Rabih El Chammay, head of Lebanon’s National Mental Health Program, to discuss how we can respond to this crisis and strengthen Lebanon’s mental health infrastructure.
