Research

In its research projects and initiatives, the MHPSS Collaborative facilitates and conducts MHPSS research across a wide range of stakeholders including academia, (I)NGOs, UN agencies, MHPSS coordination groups, and governments. We embrace and create converging spaces that cross the traditional boundaries between academia, practice, and policy; critical reflection and action; and participatory and evidence-based paradigms to inform and enrich MHPSS knowledge and practice.
Our research is focused on MHPSS for children, youth, and families facing adversity and aligned with our thematic and strategic priorities. We work with national/local research coordinators and partners, striving towards mutual learning, joint decision making, power sharing, and contextual grounding of the research aims, methods, and tools. We specialise in applied MHPSS research, using a blend of qualitative, quantitative, and participatory approaches. Our past work includes implementation research, mixed-methods evaluations (sequential and quasi-experimental designs), evidence reviews, mappings, situational analyses, and research priority-setting exercises.
