Climate and ecological crisis

Understanding and addressing the unequal impact of climate crisis mental health and wellbeing

The climate crisis poses an unprecedented threat to our planet. It impacts ecosystems, weather patterns and the security and way of life of communities worldwide.

Beyond the environmental implications, the climate crisis has far-reaching effects on the mental health and psychosocial well-being of individuals and families. Disasters such as hurricanes, wildfires and floods not only cause displacement and economic loss but also bring about a range of mental health and psychosocial challenges, including loss and grief, stress and anxiety.

We advocate for the inclusion of mental health and wellbeing in humanitarian programming, policies, and funding mechanisms related to climate change. By advancing research, strengthening support systems, and promoting evidence-based interventions, we work to ensure that communities affected by the climate crisis have access to appropriate mental health and psychosocial support.

Through collaboration with partners and stakeholders, we aim to build resilient communities that can better cope with climate-related challenges while fostering long-term wellbeing and recovery.
